2014 No.61 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast
2014 was the third spectacular year in a row for the California grape harvest. Similar to the 2013 growing season there was a moderate growing season with very few extremely hot days. This led to yet another long growing season allowing for a large fruit set as well as good flavor development leading to some spectacular aromas and flavors to be enjoyed for years to come.
The brilliant light plum color of this Sonoma Coast Pinot offers a complex level of cherry and raspberry aromas on the nose, followed by a hint of sweet tobacco. These flavors persist into the first sip accompanied by a soft and supple mouth feel on the palate. These flavors slowly turn toward cooked blackberries and baking spices on the finish accompanied by a smooth and mild finish. Drink now through 2017.
Serve with rich cheeses, roasted squash soup, chicken, or a variety of pasta dishes.

1961, the Golden Anniversary of the Indianapolis 500, proved to be a golden year for A.J. Foyt who won the first of his record four Indianapolis 500 Mile races that year as well as the IndyCar national championship. It marked the first of the 13 Indy 500s led by Foyt (a record) and the first time a series champion won the 500 and successfully defended his championship ranking. Foyt repeated that feat in 1964 and it would take 46 years before a national champion successfully defended his title and won the Indy 500 in the same year.
