This new release of the Foyt Collectors Series features another Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Mt. Veeder, Napa Valley. Bottled in the 50-year anniversary commemorative bottle, this offering celebrates A.J. Foyt’s feat at the Milwaukee Mile on August 22, 1965. Foyt arrived that Sunday to race at the paved oval, but he learned his rear engine Lotus did not due to a mechanical issue. Having won at Springfield, Ill.’s mile dirt track Saturday, Foyt washed off the dirt on his upright car and started practicing. His mechanic informed Foyt that he was a second faster than everyone else, and Foyt cracked, ‘You can’t read a stopwatch!” Foyt’s upright beat all the low-slung rear engine cars to win the pole position. The crowd went wild! He finished second in the race. The legendary driver deemed it one of his most memorable moments in his amazing career.
